Today we’d like to introduce you to Latunya Wright.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

My story? I call it my life’s journey I always say you have to go through something to understand something, well I could most definitely go on and on about my life’s journey but I’m not sure how much you would like to know or what you would like to know so I’ll start in a space that might be a little uncomfortable and let you decide.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

At the age of 5 my father was killed by his so called best friend. My father was retired military and a business owner that owned gas stations and mechanic shops in St Louis mo. At the age of 9 I was abused by my aunts husband, at the age of 14 I was diagnosed with grand Mal seizures (epilepsy), at the age of 14 I lied about my age so that I could get a job and I started working after school at McDonald’s, at the age of 15 I was offered a summer program with the Urban League and was given a office desk. Because of my knowledge and how fast I learned I’m gonna fast forward here a little bit. At the age of 17 right before graduation I was kicked out of school for getting into it with my teacher about something that I did not agree with this happened months before graduation and I missed graduating so I took a job traveling from state to state with Guy O’Brien from The Sugar Hill gang (Rappers Delight) doing door to door magazine sales for his company. At the age of 18 I came home from that traveling job and decided to attend Forest Park Community College for Business and Accounting I have always loved numbers. I found that out in high school when I took an accounting class.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

So at the age of 18 is when I began doing Taxes I taught myself and started doing mine and my family and friends I was so good that word got around and before you knew it I had referrals and I had to teach someone else how to do taxes so that they could assist me, I made so much money at a young age doing taxes that I started going to the police auto auctions for vehicles to purchase and sell, so that is exactly what I did. I was a young black girl, the only girl down there bidding on vehicles against a lot of rich white business owners. I remember Brock the owner of Brock’s Salvage Yard came to me introduced himself and said he had been watching me come down faithfully without any intimidation and confidently bid against them for what I wanted and he admired that he said keep that up and you will go a long way we became good associates. So now I was known as the Tax Lady and the Car Lady. I was flipping cars so fast I would let some people do weekly payments and when I started doing that I went and purchased a tow truck so that I could personally go and pick it up if they didn’t pay. I decided that I wanted to get into the real estate game so I once again found myself.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

My best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life would be to not give up, follow their hearts and not worry about what anyone thinks.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

I was asked what does the word success mean to me, success to me means leaving a positive platform for my children and others to build and grow off of after I’m gone.
